Which is to say I'm using VM Fusion to run XP. Because otherwise, a Mac computer is useless(, in my opinion). I'm forced to spend actual developer time with my super-expensive iPhone charger because my awesome PC CPU (Intel Quad Q6600) plus my ATI Radeon x1900xt video card (of bad ass) was too much awesome for my fucking (supposedly) high end motherboard, even with a quality copper flower heatsink, and practically melted my RAM slots and the RAM that were in those slots.

Latest example of Mac stupidity: The End key means the fucking end of the carriage line, and Home means the god damn beginning of that same god damn line. When you hit Home in a terminal window, it scrolls up to the top of the output buffer. Which is completely useful, you know, because I need to know what I typed to two hours ago every five seconds. Control+Left/Right is stupid, insulting, and doesn't work in a terminal window connected to a remote server via ssh. Lame.

(update) A friend who is a Mac lover, pointed out this blog post that deals with the topic of my Mac hatred in the previous paragraph.

I'm not a Windows fan. I'm not a Linux fan. I'm (really) not a OS X fan. I'm a fan of getting things done, on whatever OS, software, hardware I have available that won't make me break something out of aggravation. So to say that my Dream OS setup starts with a foundation of Linux is not supposed to tell you something about my software alliance. Instead, of worrying about which side of the fence I sit on, let's just take a look at how I dream about the future of Operating Systems that includes them all. (more…)
